You know all the words to his songs like "White Trash Story" and "Stock Yard", but I'm sure there are at least five things you don't know about Casey Donahew, who will be performing tonight at the Taste of Country BBQ Nationals. I had dinner with him a few months ago at Hofbrau here in Amarillo, and Donahew gave me his take on music and country stardom - and told me five things I bet you don't know about the rising country star.

#1. Amarillo musician Casey Berry played with him at his first ever show in Fort Worth at the Thirsty Armadillo.

#2. Long before lyrics and chords it was algebraic eqations and lesson plans. Casey was a math teacher in the Fort Worth area before hitting the stage.

#3. Unlike many other musicians Casey did not start playing the guitar til age 18, and he credits his college roommate for finally influencing him picking it up.

#4. He preforms to sold out venues night after night but, he describes himself as a shy guy who loves hunting, the Texas Rangers and Elvis, and still shops at Wal-Mart.

#5. Casey's wife Melinda  has managed the band since day one, and even helped write his hit 'White Trash Story.' Ya know the line, " She drink beer from champagne glasses"? Yep, that was all Melinda!

Now that you know more about Casey Donahew! Don't miss your chance to see him live on the Party Stop Sounds Stage tonite at  The Taste Of Country BBQ Nationals!
