According to law it is illegal to grow, possess, or sell the drug in Australia, police searched a grandmother's satchel when a police dog trained to sniff for drugs led officials to the woman and found "a mound of individual-packed drug sachets in her handbag."

74 year old Noelene Edwards was arrested and charged with possession with the intent to sell. She told the judge at her hearing that it was not hers, she said her son or his friends could have slipped it in her bag when she wasn't looking.

The judge did not buy her alibi and sentenced her with a two year good behavior bond.

But this isn't the first story of its kind an probably not the last. Last month a Uniontown, Pennsylvannia grandma was arrested for growing a huge amount of "the green" in her backyard. She claims she had been tricked by a man with a long beard who told her to grow it.
