This week marks the 55th Anniversary of Amarillo Emergency Services.

If you see any EMT workers, firefighters, police officers, or 911 operators this week, give them a handshake or a high-five and thank them for keeping our community safe.

These men and women are the ones running towards situations that everyone else is running away from.

In 2015 alone, our Emergency Services teams spent a total of 699 hours on the clock looking out for our city.

Firefighters spent 137 hours fighting fires, 117 hours of those watching severe weather, and over 1,174 hours at the scenes of accidents. This doesn't even include all of the volunteer hours they put in.

Thank you to the hard workers at AES!
