“Americas Oldest Teenager” Dick Clark Has Passed Away At The Age Of 82 [VIDEO]

“Americas oldest teenager” and American Bandstand host Dick Clark passed away on Wednesday, April 18th due to a heart attack.

Born in the Bronx in 1929, Dick Clark was introduced into radio and TV at an early age.

His father managed a radio station in Utica, New York. Clark worked in the mail room and was promoted to the weather and news announcer.

Clark got his chance for TV when the host for “Bob Horn’s Bandstand” was arrested for drunk driving. Clark was an alternate host at the time but was asked to take over the hosting duties. That is when the shows name was changed to “American Bandstand.”

In 1972 Clark produced his show called Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. A TV show  in which he would countdown the time until the new years in New York City.

In 2004, Clark suffered a stroke which altered his speech ability. He still found time to help host “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest.

On Wednesday, April 18th Dick Clark passed away after suffering from a heart attack caused by complications after medical surgery, he was 82 years old.
