The public is outraged over a fatal shooting over the weekend.  The victim, a loved dog named Cisco.  The shooter, an Austin Police Officer.

So what happened?  Over the weekend, officer Thomas Griffin was dispatched to a residence for a domestic disturbance.  Since it was domestic disturbance, Griffin was being extra cautious as he approached.  What he wasn't prepared for was, was to be at the wrong address.

Yes, the person calling 911 gave the wrong address.  When Griffin arrived, he encountered Austinite Michael Paxton.  He directed him to raise his hands.  Then right at that moment, Cisco, Paxton's dog, came around the corner barking.  That is when Griffin shot the dog.

Of course, there is always two sides to every story.  Did Griffin have to shoot the dog?  We don't know but according to Paxton, no.  As of right now, the Austin Police Department does not have a procedure in place for dealing with animals.

Nothing will bring back Cisco, but Paxton does want something to happen.  He would like for the APD to create a procedure.  He doesn't want another pet owner to lose their beloved animal.

He has even created a Facebook page called "Justice for Cisco."  As of today, it has just under 38,000 likes.

Officer Griffin has not been punished at all and remains on full duty.
