Taylor Swift is perhaps best known for singing about one topic from a variety of angles: love. And while she admits that this is true, the multi-Grammy Award-winning starlet is quick to declare that she’s perfectly content to go stag for a while.
Jason Aldean has taken the country music world by storm in the past few years, shooting out of the ranks of wannabe country stars and into sold-out arena tours. The ‘My Kinda Party’ singer may perform to 20,000 people on any given night, and his songs have been climbing the charts like kids on a playground. Even so, the laid-back country hitmaker says he’s not about to go around giving other hopefuls advice — especially not on a reality TV show.
While Taylor Swift and Lady Antebellum have had a pretty rockin’ year when it comes to winning awards to add to their trophy cases, there’s one small group that has yet to voice their opinions. Now, kids are getting ready to speak out during Nickelodeon’s 25th annual Kids Choice Awards, where pint-sized fans offer up their top picks on everything from books to TV shows, cartoons and music. Swift and Lady A are among the country acts who received nods from the young population.
Today, Rascal Flatts finally pulled back the veil on the tracklisting for their highly-anticipated upcoming record, ‘Changed.’ Just last month, the trio announced that they will be releasing the album on April 3, and now they’re upping their game with a deluxe version, which will hit shelves the same day. The deluxe edition will feature four bonus tracks, including ‘Friday Can’t Come Fast Enough,’ ‘Fall Here,’ ‘Right One Time’ and ‘Next To You, Next To Me.’
What can we say? When the DIY-laced, fashion-forward, recipe-stocked pin craze of Pinterest began, we never thought we’d be reporting that male country music stars would be getting in on the action. But Pinterest has taken on a new role of late, serving as just another social media outlet where artists can do what has become so vital these days: connect with their fans. Perhaps this is why New-Zealand born Aussie Keith Urban just added his name to the list of pinners you can follow with his new Pinterest page.
Maybe it really is true that you just can’t do it all. At least that’s what ‘Red Solo Cup’ singer Toby Keith seems to be discovering. After making appearances in the movies ‘Beer for My Horses’ and ‘Broken Bridges,’ Keith says he’s throwing in the acting towel for good — but not because he didn’t enjoy it.
This year marked the first year hip-hop artist Chris Brown has been a part of the Grammys since 2009, when he beat up Rihanna, his girlfriend at the time, just before the ceremony. The Recording Academy’s choice to have him on as a performer in 2012 has stirred up a lot of reaction from people, both good and bad, especially since he was allowed to perform not once, but twice on Sunday night.
Kenny Rogers filed a federal lawsuit Monday (Feb. 13) against his label Capitol Records, claiming the label owes him money for digital music sales. He’s also claiming he is owed $400,000 from Capitol that he has yet to receive because of a number of accounting errors. According to the suit, the second part of the claim has been an ongoing battle since 2007.
Wynonna Judd got engaged to sweetheart and band member Cactus Moser on Christmas Eve, and the singer just revealed some details about her upcoming fall wedding. While you might expect the country star to go for something shimmering and glitzy, Judd says that’s not in the cards for her in this, her third, wedding. In fact, this time around she tells People that the theme will be “barefoot and just fun.”
Just this week, iTunes finally revealed the full tracklisting for the long-awaited soundtrack to the highly-anticipated upcoming film, ‘The Hunger Games,’ and thankfully, a few country names made the list. We’ve known for quite some time now that Taylor Swift‘s collaboration with the Civil Wars, ‘Safe and Sound,’ would be included, and it’s actually at the top of the list.
In a new statement made Monday (Feb. 13), Dolly Parton emphasized once again just how deeply saddened she is by the tragic and sudden death of pop superstar Whitney Houston, who died Saturday in a Beverly Hills hotel room. Parton seems to have felt a special connection with the soaring songstress, especially since they shared the hit ‘I Will Always Love You,’ a song Parton wrote and performed in 1974. Houston then brought the git to girls across the globe, who sang it into their hairbrushes after 1992, trying to mimic the astounding runs and unbelievable high notes of the talent.
Friday night, Keith Urban hit the stage of Moody Theater in Austin, Texas to raise money for the Beyond Batten Disease Foundation. And while fans enjoyed his new songs and his old hits, they really got a treat when Texas native Jack Ingram joined Urban on the stage for a rendition of George Strait‘s ‘You Look So Good in Love,’ caught by a fan with a Flip cam in the video below.
