RTX Spotlight: Up and Coming Texas Artist Kimberly Dunn [AUDIO]
Kimberly Dunn’s smile and laugh are infectious. But that won’t get you too far as a musician. Good thing for her, so is her music. Last week the recent Texas A&M grad stopped by Radio Texas, LIVE! to hang out, sing and debut her new single “Common as the Rain” and that’s exactly what we did.
This Week in Texas Music Tweets
Our good friend Rita Ballou takes the time to collect the wittiest, most topical and sometimes very random tweets each week from the Texas scene. Then, after she gathers them up, I steal ‘em. And that takes us to right up, to right here. Check out “This Week in Texas Music Tweets,” including a “thank you” tweet from Randy Rogers, a patriotic one from Bart Crow, and it wouldn’t be a true “T.W.I.T.M
Curtis Grimes ‘Live From the Parish’ — The Big Tease [VIDEO]
We’re all getting pretty pumped for the new live Curtis Grimes album “Live from the Parish.” If you’re not yet, to help get you there, today the Grimes camp released a teaser video. Curtis says he excited to have a new album, but even more so about it being a live album the reason being, “I felt like it would represents how we sound as a band right now.”
Are The Damn Quails the Next Big Thing in Red Dirt? [AUDIO]
One album and two singles into a career may be a little early to go throwing around “the next best thing” but it’s not stopping me. And while there are certainly a few bands you could say that about, not many have experienced the radio play and success The Damn Quails already have. Both of their singles “Fools Gold” and “So So Long,” went Top 5 on the Texas charts. Last week the guys stopped by R
Randy Rogers and His Band Rob a Bank [VIDEO]
… In their new video. Yes, the headline was misleading, I know and I apologize. Now get over it. The Randy Rogers Band have released a preview of the video for their new single “One More Sad Song,” and it looks pretty intense.
RTX Sunday Video — Jon Wolfe ‘I Don’t Dance’
If you like real, traditional country music, and if hard core boot scootin’ is your thing – Jon Wolfe is your guy. Jon’s quickly becoming known as a one of the few purists in the Texas scene, well and also for putting out great music. And this week Jon Wolfe lands our RTX Sunday Video.
Aaron Watson Talks ‘Raise Your Bottle,’ New Album + Redneck Ingenuity [AUDIO]
Aaron Watson did something this summer no other Texas or Red Dirt artist has ever done. Not guys named Pat Green, Kevin Fowler, Randy Rogers, or even bands called Cross Canadian Ragweed or Eli Young Band can say they’ve accomplished what The Honky Tonk Kid did in six weeks this summer on the Texas Music Chart.
The RTX Sunday Video — Reckless Kelly ‘Nobody’s Girl’
Reckless Kelly is easily my favorite band — from Idaho — who live in Texas — named after an Australian outlaw. But seriously, they’re pretty great. If you’ve ever pondered the difference between the Nashville and Texas scene, last year front man Willy Braun gave a great interview with Taste of Country, where he perfectly explained it. Give it a read.
Wade Bowen Set to Headline Saturday Night’s MDA Benefit Concert [AUDIO]
In Wade Bowen’s recent Top 40 single “Saturday Night” he poses the question, “Why does everybody love Saturday night?” Well, there’s a lot of reasons Wade; it’s a big party night, most of us don’t have to work Sunday, Radio Texas, LIVE! is on, the list is endless. But now we’ve got one more reason to love this Saturday night (8/18) in particular as Wade Bowen returns to East Texas to perform for T

The Top 10 Songs in Texas — Bo Phillips Scores First No. 1 and Tattoo!
It’s time once again to check out the biggest songs in Texas. Turnover at the top of the chart this summer has been crazy — every week we’re getting a new No. 1. Well, that run continues this week as we see Bo Phillips score his very first No.1 single with “Red Dirt Girl,” which also means he’s getting his first tattoo.
We also see big moves from Kevin Fowler and Whiskey Myers, the latter of which
