Mother’s Day is the time of year to give your mommy the love and affection she deserves. Even baby animals know that. We’ve found a bunch of adorable newborn animals with their mommies to help you get in the spirit of the holiday.
In one corner, we have ‘Titanic,’ which just celebrated its 3D re-release this weekend. Not only did Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet’s performance as star-crossed lovers launch their careers, but it made ‘My Heart Will Go On’ Celine Dion’s biggest hit and Winslet’s least favorite song ever.
In the other, we have ‘The Notebook,’ another love story where a young working-class man, Ryan Gosling, falls in love with a woman of rich descent, Rachel McAdams. Add in disapproving parents, another suitor as competition, and an old couple reading this story as a framing device and you get one of the most celebrated romances in movie history.
Movie titles can be a tricky thing. Sometimes they’re so on-the-nose they’re funny (‘Snakes on a Plane’) and other times they’re so ambiguous they leave us scratching our heads after we leave the theater. (We’re still not sure what an ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’ is.)
But perhaps the trickiest genre of movie titles are the ones that promise a delicious experience and fail to deliver. Yes, we’re talking about movies that sound like they should be about food, but are about different subjects entirely.
Christina Aguilera, Blake Sheldon, Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green prove in the 2012 Super Bowl commercial for ‘The Voice’ that they are willing to do whatever it takes to find the next big star. That most certainly includes fighting each other ‘Kill Bill’ style to be named the coach of said star. And who might you ask has the voice they’re all kung-fu fighting over?
With the Oscar nominations just announced, you’re probably wondering who will win The Razzies, the awards which honors the worst in the year in film. While the Razzie nominations won’t be announced until Oscar weekend (the dubious awards will be handed out on April Fool’s Day this year), we have some predictions for who could be taking home a Golden Raspberry trophy this year.
In one corner, we have the vampires from ‘Underworld Awakening,’ who not only possess enhanced speed and strength, but also know how to shoot up the place and look really cool leaping off of tall buildings.
In the other, we have the vampires from the ‘Twilight Saga,’ whose bodies are hard like diamonds, whose bites unleash pent-up stocks up venom that burns their victims, and whose skin sparkles in the day light.
In one corner, we have PlayStation, the video game console engineered by Sony that’s currently in it’s third evolution on top of its PSP, PS Vita and PlayStation Move installments. Along with game play, users can stream movies and TV shows through Netflix and Hulu, listen to music and more.
In the other, we have Xbox, Microsoft’s sixth-generation console that was the first technology in the game world to feature a hard disk drive, which eliminated the need for memory cards. The newest installment, Xbox 360 with Kinect, gives players the ability to use their own bodies and voice as the controllers.
In one corner, we have Starbucks, the coffee conglomerate that brought the urban coffee shop vibe to people all around the world. All people have to do is look for that green, wavy-haired mermaid to get their caffeine fix.
In the other, we have Dunkin’ Donuts, the coffee brand that “America runs on” and has been around since the first Massachusetts location opened in 1950. It’s not just the location for great coffee, but great donuts, too!
In one corner, we have ‘Family Guy,’ the series starring the Griffin family that skyrocketed creator Seth MacFarlane into fame and fortune and paved the way for fellow animated hits ‘American Dad’ and ‘The Cleveland Show.’
In the other, we have ‘The Simpsons,’ the long-running show that introduced Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie and the rest of the Springfield gang. At 23 seasons and counting, few shows have provided more laughs.
So, which show is better? It’s time for you to decide once and for all in our poll below.
Haven’t you ever wondered what happened to that little kid from the classic ‘Hook’ movie or the jock from ’10 Things I Hate About You?’ (No, we’re not talking about the ABC Family series.) These stars from the ’80s and ’90s have all but faded from the spotlight since abominations like ‘Two Broke Girls’ and ‘I Hate My Teenage Daughter’ have graced the screens… until now.
