‘Breaking Bad’ Considering Saul Goodman Spinoff, Seriously?
With AMC’s acclaimed drama ‘Breaking Bad‘ heading into its final eight episodes this summer, fans of the New Mexican meth drama have begun taking stock of the many aspects to be missed when the saga comes to an end. High among them will be Bob Odenkirk’s portrayal of the lovably grimy Saul Goodman, but is AMC actually considering a spinoff for the character? It’s too late for April Fools, so find out inside!
Oy. ‘Breaking Bad’s’ final episodes will likely prove shocking enough, but the latest rumors will really blow your face off. According to Deadline, AMC is giving actual consideration to the possibility of a ‘Breaking Bad’ spinoff, to take a more comedic tone centering on fan-favorite “cockroach” character Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk).
Though we’ve heard the rumor before, the project seems to have gained some traction at Sony TV, even if no deals are yet in place. ‘Breaking Bad’ creator/showrunner Vince Gilligan and series writer/producer Peter Gould proposed the idea, having created the character together for season 2 episode “Better Call Saul.”
The pair are reportedly eying the spinoff as an hour-long series with a comedic tone, though a half-hour format will be given consideration as well.
‘Breaking Bad’ has yet to declare an official premiere date for its final eight episodes this summer, but what say you? Could a Saul Goodman spinoff actually work, or would it sully the good name of ‘Breaking Bad’ altogether? Give us your reaction in the comments!
