Johnny Manziel had been named the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, but his latest antics have him riding the pine.

TMZ and KSAT report that a video of Manziel partying at an Austin night club with a bottle of champagne was enough for Browns coach Mike Pettine to bench him.

Pettine said he also had the backing of owner Jimmy Haslam and general manager Ray Farmer.

Apparently, Manziel promised he would not bring any embarrassment to the team during the week off. So much for that.

Pettine said Josh McCown will start Monday night's game against the Baltimore Ravens in place of Manziel.
