Sony Hackers Threaten Terrorist Attacks Against Theaters Showing ‘The Interview’

The Sony hacking scandal has proven to be a massive headache for a company that’s already been having a rough few years. And now, this increasingly weird story has taken an even darker turn: the hackers are threatening to launch terrorist attacks against theaters showing ‘The Interview’ this Christmas. Seriously.

Chris Pratt, Channing Tatum and Ryan Gosling All Interested in ‘Ghostbusters’ Role

The current plan for the next ‘Ghostbusters’ film is the all-female reboot, which will be directed by Paul Feig (‘Bridesmaids’). We’ve heard that Feig has spoke with Jennifer Lawrence (who would make a great Venkman, BTW), Emma Stone and Rebel Wilson about parts in the film and it seems like a very exciting cast is coming together. So…what’s this talk of Channing Tatum, Chris Pratt and Ryan Gosling wanting to star in a ‘Ghostbusters’ movie?

Weekend Box Office Report: Audiences Pass Over ‘Exodus: Gods and Kings’

Sometimes, a film can effortlessly open at number one at the box office while still being a pretty huge disaster. This is the case with ‘Exodus: Gods and Kings,’ which rode a wave of terrible reviews and an even more terrible marketing campaign to a hugely disappointing start. With a lot of big movies opening the next two weeks, the new Biblical epic won’t even find time to grow some legs. Chances are strong that it is dead on arrival.

‘The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies’ Review: Give Me Back My Precious (Time)

Having gone on an unexpected journey and endured the desolation of Smaug, Peter Jackson’s bloated adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s ‘The Hobbit’ finally comes to ‘The Battle of the Five Armies,’ which is less of a climax to this trilogy than a distended epilogue. After spending two movies and 330 minutes building up the dragon Smaug (voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch) as the ultimate antagonist, he’s eliminated from the story completely in the first ten minutes. He’s literally gone before the title appears onscreen.

‘23 Jump Street’ Will Also Be a ‘Men in Black’ Reboot. Huh?

‘23 Jump Street’ is a sequel that is surely happening, this despite all the many hilarious sequel jokes during the ‘22 Jump Street’ end credits. The franchise is just too popular to let die. But, how exactly would you sequelize ‘22 Jump Street’, which did a pretty effective job of sending up sequel cliches? Well, you send Jenko and Schmidt to the Men in Black program, of course.

‘San Andreas’ Trailer: Dwayne Johnson Is Ready to Rumble (In a Really Big Earthquake)

This is a weird instance of art imitating life imitating art. Universal Studios Orlando’s famous old ‘Earthquake’ ride was recently updated and replaced with a similar attraction called ‘Disaster!’ where guests get to experience movie special effects, and become extras in the “ultimate” disaster movie called ‘Mutha Nature,’ which stars none other than Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. Next summer, Johnson will be seen in ‘San Andreas,’ which is basically ‘Mutha Nature’ brought to life.

This Vintage Paramount Pictures Promo Video Teases ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’ and ‘Hook’ Before They Even Had Titles

This is a fun little video curio to brighten your Monday. Tucked away in a random corner of YouTube for the last five years has been a clip titled ‘Paramount Today ... Where the Future Goes On.’ The description says it’s presumably something that was made by the studio “for Hollywood insiders [and] investors,” and it details the company’s upcoming slate for 1985 and the rest of the decade. And it’s a very entertaining, behind-the-scenes look at the movie hype machine some 30 years ago.

It has been viewed over 72 million times and has spawned countless parodies and memes but, there's still one person who hasn't seen it: George Lucas. Weekend Box Office Report: ‘The Pyramid’ Gets Buried Upon Arrival

Honestly, we could have just copied and pasted last weekend’s box office report and gotten away with it. Outside of the shifting numbers, the order of the top 10 is almost identical to what it was a week ago. This is Hollywood in a holding pattern. The weekend after Thanksgiving is a wasteland. That’s probably why ‘The Pyramid’ was dumped this weekend. However, the lone newcomer in the top 10 didn’t just bomb, it bombed spectacularly.

Cary Fukunaga’s ‘It’ Split Into Two Films, Separating the Past and Present Timelines

Stephen King’s ‘It’ is a beast of a book. Over its 1,000-plus pages, the novel follows a group of close-knit friends who do battle with a malevolent, child-killing force in their youth, only to reunite decades later to finish the job. It’s a messy, ambitious and insanely (perversely, even) detailed work. It feels unadaptable. But no one tell that to ‘True Detective’ director Cary Fukunaga, whose long-gestating adaptation is finally going before cameras next summer.
