The Christmas tree headed for Washington to be planted at the United States Capitol Building will be in Amarillo for special event tomorrow.

The 65-foot Christmas tree that is on its way to the United States Capitol Building will be making a stop in Amarillo for everybody to see. The Sierra White Fir tree was harvested at Stanislaus National Forest in California, it is 118 years old and weights 8300 pounds. The tree is being escorted across country for a twelve day journey on an 85-foot tractor trailer with around the clock security.

Tomorrow from 4pm-6pm at the at the Downtown Public Library, 413 S.E. 4th in Center City Amarillo, The City of Amarillo along with the Amarillo Parks and Recreation will have a celebration of the tree making its way through Amarillo. It is a family fun event that will include music, pictures with Santa, holiday activities, and a signing of a giant community Christmas card.
