Parking ticket, pfff who cares, right?  That is the way most people think so they end up throwing it away or stuffing it in the glove box and never paying it.  Well, that is about to change.  The city of Amarillo has decided to step up it's enforcement on parking tickets.

It is incredible how many parking tickets are left unpaid year after year.  According to a news release, the city has 5,115 outstanding parking tickets on its books for everything from overtime parking to parking in a handicap zone or a fire lane.  Some of the people who have these outstanding tickets are repeat offenders with more than one ticket to their name.

The city is tire of it so they are stepping up measures to enforce these tickets.  That means if you have six or more unpaid parking tickets, they are going to impound your car!

Ticket amounts range from $10 to hundreds of dollars, depending on the reasoning behind the ticket.  When you think about it, parking in a restricted areas or blocking a fire zone could hinder police or other officials from doing their job.

You can go here to see if you have any outstanding parking tickets and take care of them before your car gets impounded!
