'Glee' star Cory Monteith was tragically found dead in a Vancouver hotel room on Saturday (July 13). The news has shocked and saddened the entertainment community, prompting a reaction from many who knew the 31-year-old actor, including Taylor Swift.

"Speechless. And for the worst reason," the 'Red' superstar tweeted, clearly in a state of shock.

Swift was brief in her reaction, and has yet to say anything else in reaction to Monteith's untimely death. The pair were acquainted, having been rumored to have dated briefly in 2010.

As seen in the photo above, Swift and Monteith were seen having dinner in January 2010 and hanging out at a pre-Grammy party. Reports at the time indicated that they were seen holding hands and gazing into one another's eyes at a bowling alley in Hollywood. It seems to have been a very brief romance, if indeed a romance at all.

Swift was not the only country star to react to the devastating news of Monteith's passing. "How sad, way too young. I hope he's at peace," LeAnn Rimes wrote early Sunday morning.

"So sad to hear about Cory Monteith. So young and so talented," Thompson Square tweeted.

"One of the kindest people I've ever met!" added Julianne Hough, who had met the actor previously. "My heart breaks for Cory's family and loved ones... You will be missed and forever loved Cory!"

Monteith was found in his hotel room by staff after he failed to check out on time. He completed a stint in rehab for substance abuse earlier this year. An autopsy is expected for Monday, July 15.
