As expected, the Dallas Cowboys placed a franchise tag on wide receiver Dez Bryant, which will keep him on the team for the 2015 season.

The franchise tag gives the Cowboys refusal rights in free agency and guarantees Bryant a one-year contract worth $12.82 million if the two sides cannot reach a long-term agreement by July 15.

According to ESPN, the Cowboys thought they were close to a multiyear deal with Bryant last season, but he eventually changed agents. Since then, the two sides have no agreed on a contract and Bryant has expressed his frustrations on social media.

Bryant has caught 381 passes for 5,424 yards and 56 touchdowns in just 5 seasons, the fastest player to do so in Dallas Cowboys history. Last season, he had 88 catches for 1,320 yards and 16 touchdown catches to become one of the most feared wide receivers in the NFL.
