Darius Rucker Gets a Road in His Honor
The ‘Wagon Wheel’ singer, who hails from the Charleston area, was on hand last week (Aug. 12) when a new road, Darius Rucker Boulevard, was unveiled in his honor. The road leads up to the North Charleston Coliseum in South Carolina, where Rucker played with his former band, Hootie and the Blowfish, shortly after the venue opened.
North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey was at the ceremony to greet the singer, who shared a photo of the pair with the sign. “Want to take a stroll down Darius Rucker Boulevard? Charleston, what an honor. Thank you,” Rucker wrote on Facebook. The broad smile on his face says it all — it’s not every day you get a street named in your honor!
The 47-year-old country star has seen numerous accolades throughout his country music career, including an induction into the Grand Ole Opry. Now, he can add a street name to his growing list of accomplishments!
