David Nail is pretty hardcore. Just last month, the ‘Let It Rain’ hitmaker left it all out on the field at the City of Hope Celebrity Softball Challenge during the CMA Music Festival in Nashville. In fact, he played so hard (and might we add, threw out so many members of the challenging team) that he suffered a minor fracture and a detached tendon in his hand. The good news is, now Nail is all patched up and he’s ready to brave another celebrity softball match.

Nail and his newly-healed hand will  take the field at the MLB All-Star Legends and Celebrity Softball Game on July 8 in Kansas City. The singer, who is the first to admit that he plays by the standard of ‘go big or go home,’ will join a slew of celebs, including David Cook, Chord Overstreet of ‘Glee’ fame, and ‘Mad Men’ star John Hamm.

Although Nail did find himself in the hospital following his injury last month, he managed to snag the MVP award for his team at the City of Hope game. We’re pretty sure that bodes well for his upcoming celeb game. The former collegiate baseball player is up against some stiff competition — including former baseball star Mike Piazza — but we have faith that he’s up to the task.

The real concern for country music fans is whether Nail can pick up his axe and continue to play out his busy touring schedule this summer. The Missouri native will take the stage in Kansas City on July 7, and then he’ll lace up his cleats and play ball on July 8. Click here for the country star’s full tour schedule.
