Earlier this week, 'Dexter' fans were saddened, if unsurprised to learn that their favorite Showtime serial killer would make the eighth season his last, bringing a conclusion to the bloody saga after eight years. Even as 'Dexter' comes to a conclusive end however, might there be room for a spinoff with Deb, or others? Hear what Showtime has to say inside!

You might want a bit of pepper to offset the massive grain of salt to take with this news, but it seems the 'Dexter' saga may not end with the eighth season after all. Showtime has confirmed that 'Dexter' itself will come to a close after the upcoming eighth season, but when pressed about the possibility of a Deb-centric spinoff, Showtime President David Nevins told The Hollywood Reporter he "[wouldn't] rule it out."

There are all sorts of possibilities...all kinds of ideas have been discussed but there is nothing happening right now. This season is about this season playing out the trajectory of the Dexter character.

All options are on the table as to where it could go after this. There's nothing actively happening, but you never know what the future holds. We need to get through this season and see how the dust settles and then see where we go from there. I won't rule it out, but I'm not actively planning anything.

Nothing very much to go on, but surely legions of 'Dexter' fans would beg for a spinoff of any kind if it meant continuing on with some of their favorite characters. Hey, there's always comics, right?

What say you? Would you interested in any kind of 'Dexter' spinoff, or would you prefer the franchise conclusively end with season 8? Tell us what you want to see from the new season premiering June 30 in the comments!
