Five Fun Things for Amarillo Teens to do in Halloween

Even though it seems like there’s not much to do around Amarillo during Halloween for teens, after almost a decade living here I can surely say there are plenty of cool places to go. Today, we’re naming the top five things teens can do in Amarillo this Halloween. No more saying there’s nothing to do or nowhere to go because here they are.

The places we name will include their price of admission, if any, and the activities one can do there. Also, even though our list is about what teens can do, we cannot prevent your lame parents or annoying siblings from going there too. With no more delays, here is our list. By the way, our list is not numbered in regards to the event’s coolness.

1. Boo at Zoo!

If you’re an animal person, this is the event for you. The Amarillo Zoo hosts this big Halloween event annually, bringing in people from all over the country. With last year bringing record numbers, this year’s celebration promises a large crowd. Even though it won’t offer big scares, it is a fun event that one can look forward to year round. It starts Friday, October 25th through Sunday the 27th from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm with Sunday being from noon to five.

2. The Westgate Mall

Yes, it’s a cliche for teens to go to the mall but bear with us. The mall is having Halloween themed events. One being the Malloween Costume Contest, where teens 13 trough 17 years old will be competing against each other with the winner winning a 100 dollar mall gift certificate. It will be taking place in the center court, Saturday, October 26th from 2 to 4 pm. If interested, call 358-7221 for more details.

3.Haunted Corn Maze

Want a bigger scare than these other options, then try going to Farmageddon’s  Zombie Themed hayride. The ride consists of a half a mile trip into a field infested with Zombies with a loaded gun. With 100 paint balls that is. After it’s over and you’ve shot as many Zombies as possible, the guns are taken away and you’re left alone in the field in total darkness. If interested, come dressed in shoes you wouldn’t mind getting dirty and with your friends. Farmageddon is located at S.E. Loop 335 and Whitaker Road and is open every Friday and Saturday of October from 8 pm to midnight. Cost of entry is $25 on Friday, $30 on Saturday.

4. 6th street Massacre Haunted House

Voted as one of the top 100 haunted houses in the nation, it is definitely the place to go if you want a serious fright. Ranking at number 71, it will be open every Friday through Sunday of October. Fridays and Saturdays are from 7 pm to 12 pm, and Sundays from 7 pm to 10 pm. Located on the historic Route 66, admission to the haunt is $20 each person, so go if you dare!

5. Chainsaw Massacre Haunt

6th Street Massacre not enough for you? Then also go to the Chainsaw Massacre Haunt. Like its sister haunt, Chainsaw Massacre has lots of scares and lots of fun. It’s open at the same time as 6SM. If you go to 6th Street Massacre, it’s likely you’ll like this one equally as much.

There’s our list; hope you enjoyed it, see you at these events and happy Halloween!
