After a handful of health scares this year, George Jones has been given the green light to hit the road once again. The legend’s wife, Nancy, took to Facebook to share the good news with Jones’ legions of loyal followers.

“George saw his doctor today and the doctor said it was time to hit the road and start singing to his fans. So, Possum will be seeing you all soon,” the singer’s wife says (quote via Country Weekly). “He is so excited. Once again, we want to thank everyone for your prayers and love shown to us.”

Last week, Jones took to the same social media platform to share that her husband is ”feeling great” and was rehearsing with his band. ”He said to tell everyone, ‘he don’t need no rockin’ chair,’” adds the doting wife, referring to Jones’ 1992 hit, “I Don’t Need Your Rockin’ Chair.”

Last month, the legendary singer was admitted to and released from a Nashville area hospital after battling a recurring upper-respiratory infection. Jones first sought medical treatment for the infection in March. What was thought to be a quick fix resulted in a six-day hospital stay.

According to Jones’ official website, the iconic country singer’s first date scheduled following his hospital stint is on July 19 in Trumansburg, N.Y. The veteran touring superstar has dates scheduled through the end of the year. Click here for dates and ticket information.
