February 2nd is a day that determines how much winter we have left.  We put all are faith in a little groundhog, but how accurate is he?

Year after year we wait in anticipation-will the groundhog see his shadow?  But does it really matter?  What difference will it make anyway?

Turns out not much.  The groundhog has an accurate rating of only 39%.  Yeah, not even 50% right.  So you could say he's been right 39% of the time or just lucky.

Here are even more statistics, in all the years, the groundhog has seen his shadow 97 times and not seen it only 15.  That is a big difference.

So if you are looking forward to this Saturday, don't put to much faith in it.  If it is cloudy chances are he will not see his shadow.  But the forecast calls for sunshine this weekend so if the groundhog will likely see his shadow.  And if you are a believer, that means six more weeks of winter, get ready!
