Here are 4 of your best options to enjoy Cinco de Mayo in Amarillo.

Cinco de Mayo, the 5th of May, is the celebration of the Mexican army's defeat of the French at the Battle of Puebla. This battle took place after the Mexican-American War when the French invaded Mexico. Although some people believe that Cinco de Mayo marks Mexican independence, that's not the case. Mexico officially gained independence on September 16th. However, Cinco de Mayo is still an important holiday because it commemorates a battle that the Mexican army won despite being heavily outnumbered, as well as the last time a European army invaded a country in the Americas.

Amarillo takes its Cinco de Mayo celebrations seriously.
