Around 150 people use Canyon's public pool on a daily basis during the summer, as Canyon grows it's amenities need to grow along with the city. Over the last several decades the pool has done it's job for the community.

As the pool Committee says it's time for a new pool, one that is bigger and better. Canyon's public pool was built in the 1950s and is in need of an update. A proposal for a water park is said to be built in the same location as the original pool, a $5.2 million project that would feature slides and other attractions.

The new water park would likely cost four to six million dollars, but a cost that would theoretically be offsetted by admission fees in the range of five or six dollars. The intention for the new water park is for Canyon to grow even more, and probably at least for some time people could come here from Amarillo,Hereford,Happy, and maybe Tulia to have fun in the sun with the this new water park.
