Country music fans are used to seeing Jason Aldean in front of the microphone, but for his good friend Tyler Farr, he's stepping into a different role: producer. In an interview with Nashville's NewsChannel 5, Farr reveals that Aldean will be in the producer's chair for his next album.

Farr dropped the news when asked how he's feeling following the vocal cord surgery he underwent earlier this year. The singer says that, so far, they've cut four songs.

"He was pretty hard on me," Farr says with a chuckle. "We'd go from pretty much sunup to sundown every day, and he was very persistent on finding what he wanted out of my voice and what he wanted to capture."

Farr and Aldean recently spent two years on the road together, on Aldean’s Burn It Down Tour, and Farr tells The Boot that their friendship is full of honesty.

"We're pretty blunt with each other, and we're both smart-you-know-whats, but we have fun with each other," Farr tells NewsChannel 5, "and that's what makes country music special and really gets some good stuff in the studio."

It shouldn't be surprising that Farr has Aldean on board as a producer for what will become his third studio album: Farr has high praise for Aldean's career.

“He just has great songs … He’s one of the best entertainers I’ve been around honestly, if not the best,” Farr explains. “H[e has a] capability of sifting through songs and finding that hit and the songs that connect to his people.

“You go back and listen to his albums, you’ll hear consistency — the power chords and the country lyrics mixed with some rock,” Farr continues. “He’s got that distinctive voice. He’s a stylist, and I love stylists, hence George Jones, John Anderson, Earl Thomas Conley — I like the guys that, when they come one, it’s, ‘Oh, that’s him,’ and he has it. Luke Bryan has it, too.”

Now off vocal rest, Farr made his return to the stage on Sunday (May 15) with a free show at Tootsie's in Music City. A list of all of Farr’s upcoming shows is available on his website. His 2016 calendar includes a spot in the lineup at Country Jam 2016, which will take place in June, just outside of Grand Junction, Colo.
