Keith Urban treated attendees of the 2017 Country Radio Seminar in Nashville to an intimate performance on Wednesday night (Feb. 22), offering stripped-down versions of some of the songs on his newest album, Ripcord. One of the tracks he performed was his newest single, "The Fighter;" solo, the duet with Carrie Underwood turns into a tender love song.

Readers can press play above to watch a snippet of Urban's acoustic version of "The Fighter," performed alone on electric guitar. Rather than replace Underwood's chorus lines, Urban keeps the song one-sided -- a message, rather than a conversation.

Urban has previously said that "The Fighter" came to him “pretty quickly,” and that he was inspired by “thinking about how long it’d been since I heard a song with a guy and girl actually speaking back and forth to each other.”

“It’s a song about helping to heal and protect someone you love. It’s a song about reassurance that you’ll always be there to take the blows the world can throw,” Urban adds. “Carrie and I had sung together before, and I thought our voices blended really well — so she was unquestionably the right choice. It was such a relief that she wanted to do it.”

During his CRS performance, Urban also shared versions of "John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16," "Wasted Time" and "Blue Ain't Your Color."

The 2017 Country Radio Seminar runs through Friday (Feb. 24).
