One of the reigning pop staples of the 80's is going country.

Lionel Richie will be taping a special in Las Vegas on April 2nd along side Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts, Kenny Chesney and other big country stars for a CBS Special. ACM Presents Lionel Richie & Friends - A Lifetime of Hits will coincide nicely with the new Richie CD, 'Tuskegee', which will be released in March.

The album, named for his birthplace, will feature many of today's country superstars doing duets with Lionel on some of his biggest hits.

After leaving the Commodores and going solo in 1981, Richie racked up 13 Top 10 hits on the Billboard Chart in 7 years.

Some of the radio staples in the 80's included; "Hello", "Dancing on the Ceiling", "All Night Long (All Night)" and the powerhouse ballad with Diana Ross, "Endless Love", which topped the charts for a record 9-weeks. Richie is no stranger to country music or the country chart, he co-wrote Kenny Rogers "Lady," which was a number one record for 6 weeks in 1980.

At this moment there is no official date or time for the CBS Special, but I will be first to download the new Duets CD in March.
