I had a great conversation with a new friend, named Shane, that I ran into the other day.

We were talking about radio and I told him that I work with the folks over at Blake-FM.

We were talking country music and he asked me if I have met any songwriters. I told him that off the top of my head I couldn't think of any. I did say that those 'are some talented and creative people.' These writers normally shy away from the spotlight. They  do their magic behind the scenes and create the images that are recorded and released by 'The Marque' names.

I would like to mention that as the songwriters turn in their demos that they will be the ones providing the vocals. Many of these talented folks are also great singers themselves.

He then proceeded to on to tell me about his friend Rodney Clawson.

I'm quite a bit embarrassed that the name did not immediately ring a bell for me, so I did a little digging on Big Loud Shirt.

Rodney was born and raised in Gruver, TX with a city population close to 1,200.

Clawson now resides in Tennessee and, according to his twitter profile, is a 'farmer turned fisher...and sometimes (I) write a song or two.'

Even though his name was unfamiliar to me his music certainly wasn't.

He has written and co-written songs that have been recorded by; Florida Georgia Line, Tim McGraw, Jason Aldean, George Strait, Frankie Ballard, Faith Hill, Blake Shelton, Kellie Pickler and more.

With 11 number one records so far, his star is shinning bright. Take a look at some of the hits he's helped create.

George Strait - I Saw God Today
