Monday Morning Fire Kills Elderly Woman In Amarillo

Jay Evans, 96, was pronounced dead on scene after firefighters found her inside her home that caught on fire.

A fire started around 12:20am on Monday morning in the kitchen area of the house, according to NewsChannel10.com "Firefighters responded to the scene and had the fire under control within twenty minutes."

An autopsy has been ordered for the cause of death. An investigation is underway for the cause of the fire, officials estimate $15,000 in damages.
