Movie Trivia: The Wizard Of Oz [VIDEO]

It's hard to believe that 'The Wizard of Oz,' starring Judy Garland is currently celebrating it's 75th Anniversary.

When it was originally released in 1939 it wasn't an immediate box office blockbuster, but over time and because of the yearly TV airings beginning in the 1970s it went on to take it's place as one of the most beloved films of all time.

According to the American Film Institute 'Oz' ranks as the tenth best American Movie of All Time. But, here are a few facts that you might not know about the film that taught us, "There's no place like home."

• Producers originally looked at Shirley Temple to play the part of Dorothy Gale.
• Walt Disney tried his hardest to buy the rights to Wizard of Oz, so he could make the film.
• Buddy Ebsen was originally cast as the Tin Man, but had to quit due to a bad reaction to the silver makeup.
• 'Over the Rainbow' had been taken out of one of the rough drafts of the film. Producers felt that it slowed down the picture too early in the beginning.
• Toto was not a he, in fact HER real name was Terry
• During the song 'If I Only Had a Heart,' the female voice that cries out "Wherefore art thou, Romeo?" is Adriana Caselotti, the voice of Snow White in Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs.
• W.C. Fields name was tossed around for the role of the all powerful 'Wizard.'

I honestly couldn't imagine this movie without this song in it.
