With all the rain we have been getting, our grass and weeds are going to grow at a faster pace.  Well don't let them get to big or the city will slap you with a fine!

I'll admit that mowing is one of my least favorite chores, but I know it has to be done so I get out there and do it.  For all of you who are just being lazy, you might want to rethink your actions.

With all the rain we've been blessed with comes some challenges-weeds and overgrown grass.  The city wants you to get out there and maintain your yard.  According to the city of Amarillo, uncultivated vegetation that is taller than 8 inches high, is in violation of a city ordinance.

So what does that mean?  It means that the city is sending people out to inspect your yards.  If they find that your yard is in violation you will be sent a notice.  Once you have received a notice, you have 10 days to take care of your yard.

If you don't, then the city will send over some mowers to do it for you.  But it isn't all nice and sweet.  Oh no.  The city will then send you the bill plus an administration fee.

So here's what you need to do, take some time and mow your yard.  It will be a lot cheaper than having the city do it for you!  And if you are super nice and feel like doing a good deed, find an elderly neighbor and mow their lawn for them.  :)
