A record that has stood for 28 years was broken last night while millions were watching.

A record that has stood for almost 3 decades was broken last night in dramatic fashion. What better way to break a record then on Monday Night Football when millions are watching. Last night was a game between two teams in the NFC South wanting to clinch the top of the division and a playoff spot.

The New Orleans Saints and the Atlanta Falcons are division rivals, and last nights game was not only for first place but a game that will be remembered when everyone is talking about the all time passing record in the NFL. The Saints had the easy victory against the Falcons last night 45-16 as their QB Drew Brees broke Dan Marino's All Time Single Season Passing Record of 5,084 by 3 yards with 5,087.

Going into last nights game Brees needed 307 yards to pass the record that has stood for 27 years. With 2:51 left in the game all Brees needed was 7 yards and he owned the record. After hitting his running back Darren Sproles on a 9-yard touchdown pass Drew Brees set the record. With one game left in the regular season he can set the mark higher for future QB's to try and beat. If he stays consistent he is projected to throw for over 55,000 yards in his career, another possible record for the Saints QB.

In the video above you can watch as Brees throw for the record on last nights Monday Night Football game. In the video below you can watch a rare locker room speech after the game that Brees made to his teammates and coaches.
