Zac Brown announced excited news this morning, while the headline was more troubling for Randy Travis. Those are just two of over a dozen country music news stories from Tuesday. Also in today’s Daily Roundup, learn who was added to the Blake Shelton cruise and help determine country music’s favorite crossover artist.
As we reported earlier this week, new music is on the way for the Zac Brown Band! What was once an exciting rumor is now an official date on the calendar — on July 10, ZBB’s new album ‘Uncaged’ will hit stores nationwide. But that’s not all that the band revealed this week. In a recent interview with the Associated Press, Brown announced the addition of a percussionist, Daniel de los Reyes.
Zac Brown Band have been crazy busy this year, as they’ve taken the stages of arenas across the country and awards shows alike. Currently up for Top Country Artist at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards, ZBB are also in the running for Group Video of the Year and Collaborative Video of the Year at the CMT Music Awards. Plus, CMTT is reporting that they have a source that knows when the band’s next album is supposedly going to hit shelves.
Much like former Democratic President Bill Clinton — who went on late night TV playing the sax — President Barack Obama is using music to connect with a potential pool of voters. With the 2012 election nipping at his heels as he seeks re-election, the commander-in-chief has released a 28-track playlist via Spotify for his upcoming campaign.
Zac Brown Band guitarist Coy Bowles has written a children’s book and some of the proceeds are going towards a children charity. Kid Rock is also feeling charitable in his hometown of Detroit. And American Airlines flight attendants want to get rid of 30 Rock because of Alec Baldwin's actions. More details and my opinion can be found in today's McDaily webcast.
Fans who tuned into the premiere of the Zac Brown Band‘s ‘Live at Red Rocks’ special over the weekend got an added bonus. In addition to several of their chart-topping hits, the band also offered the television debut of a previously unreleased song, ‘Sweet Annie.’
The Zac Brown Band were nominated for eight awards at last night’s American Country Awards and five at last month’s CMA Awards in Nashville, plus one award at the American Music Awards. Today, their mantle looks the same as it did two months ago. The band tweeted about their recent run of bad country music awards luck.
When you’ve had as many No. 1 singles as Zac Brown Band has — seven, to date — making music videos becomes an everyday thing. The group’s latest clip for ‘Keep Me in Mind’ seems almost effortless, though in a good way. The band shot the video live during a concert, but it comes packed with all of the genuine talent that makes ZBB so popular across the board.
The Zac Brown Band sold more than one million copies of their ‘You Get What You Give’ album, dominated the radio with three hit singles, and toured like crazy. However, it doesn’t look like they’re taking a break any time soon. In fact, they’re planning to start their next album.
