Gruver Police Department Is On The Verge To Be Shut Down

An area town may no longer have a police department. There really hasn’t been a reason to disband this police department to the chief’s knowledge.

The mayor has proposed a discussion in the next city council meeting on disbanding the city’s police department. If the Gruver city council decides to disband the Police the next law enforcement services for the city would then be contracted through the Hansford County Sheriff’s Office.

Response times would be shorter if Gruver kept the police force in place than if a Hansford County Deputy had to respond to Gruver. Residents are urging the city commissioners not to disband the police department. A petition is now circulating to keep the police in service.
