A Bushland couple brought light to something that has been under the radar, it is now expanding in the Texas Panhandle.

When a Bushland couple moved to Amarillo back in 2010 they noticed there was not a weekend backpack program.  A lot of children will only eat breakfast and lunch during the school week but sometimes will go without a meal over the weekends. Snack Pak 4 Kids is designed to eliminate that problem so children will not go with out food for a whole weekend.

The program started within a small church but has since expanded into a 1500 square ft. warehouse. Thanks to volunteers the program is able to put together over 3800 bags every two weeks to pass out around Amarillo and now the Texas Panhandle.

Amarillo ISD started using it in all of the schools in town and it has since expanded to surrounding towns such as River Road, Bushland, Fritch, Hereford, Walcott and Tulia. Canyon has even picked up the idea to start there own program in there communities.

The program is looking into expanding into every county in Texas.
