Street Racing Is Now A Cause For Concern In Amarillo After Fatalities Are On The Rise

With the number of fatalities on the rise due to street racing in Amarillo, the Amarillo Police Department will be on the look out.

A car wreck that happened this past weekend prompted the Amarillo Police Department to look further into the street racing. The APD thinks the woman was killed because of two cars who were street racing.

Amarillo residents have been complaining about the careless, wreck-less driving of young adults in the area. The areas most notorious for street racing in Amarillo are Hillside, Soncy, 34th and 45th and Coulter. Last year there was a fatal crash which prompted more police to patrol the area.

According to NewsChannel10.com, "If someone is caught racing here they can face a Class B misdemeanor, all the way up to a second degree felony if someone is killed or seriously injured because of the race."
