Sugarland Put 2012 Tour ‘In the Hands of the Fans’

Sugarland is giving their fans exactly what they want once again by launching their sixth consecutive headlining tour, appropriately titled the 2012 In Your Hands Tour. The 25-city trek will kick off on April 5 in Toledo, Ohio and wrap on Aug. 18 with a final stop in Stateline, Nev.

The concept of the uniquely planned 2012 tour is that their fans will dictate what songs get placed on the set list each night in each city. The band will release specific guidelines and instructions about the innovative tour idea in the coming weeks, via their official website.

“This year’s tour is based around the concept of putting the show into the hands of the fans,” Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles explains. “They will make the requests that will help form the set list and guide the show. Through texts, handwritten signs, the Internet, phone calls made during the show and selections directly from the stage, the fans will become the conductors as well as the audience. If it’s on one of our records or if we’ve played it on a stage it is fair game.”

Joining Nettles and her duo partner Kristian Bush for the tour will be their labelmate and ‘American Idol‘ finalist, Lauren Alaina, as well as newcomer Canaan Smith, who just released his debut single ‘We Got Us.’
