It's hard to get up in arms about remakes, considering how many of them there are, but the period between originals and new versions is getting shorter and shorter. Case in point: 'The Butterfly Effect.' This 2004 film is the latest to get a remake -- though it's being called a reboot, partly because the original inspired two direct-to-video sequels.

Once upon a time, we would have turned up our noses at the thought of an impending remake of 'Bloodsport' and said something like, "Is there no originality left in Hollywood these days? A Jean-Claude Van Damme film? Really?" These days, the news of an impending 'Bloodsport' remake can barely get a shrug out of us. But yes, they're remaking 'Bloodsport.'

'Jacob's Ladder,' the 1990 film by Adrian Lyne that starred Tim Robbins and Elizabeth Pena, is the latest film to get dusted off and prepped for a new version. The remake is being financed by LD Entertainment ('The Grey'), and they've already got a writer attached.

We've been wondering for a while who would be playing the iconic role of evil villain Shredder in the upcoming 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' reboot, but it seems the role has belonged to William Fichtner for some time now.

In today's recycling news: Universal has plucked the 1994 Jean-Claude Van Damme sci-fi action flick 'Timecop' from their little green eco-friendly bin.

1991's 'Point Break' is the latest film to be dusted off for remaking, as former cinematographer Ericson Core has been hired to direct it, and there's already a finished script. Which means this might actually happen. Great.

Oh, good -- the guy who wrote two of the worst movies last year is "polishing" the script for Josh Trank's 'Fantastic Four' reboot. Seth Grahame-Smith must have impressed someone at Fox because they've just hired him to work his, uh, magic (?) on 'Fantastic Four.'
