When Marvel announced a release date for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 before the first one was even released, everyone thought Marvel was overestimating their strange space opera. And then it made a bajillion dollars and everyone on the internet felt like a fool. Now, the title for that sequel has been revealed and while it doesn’t bring any grand revelation with it, it’ll probably get you to crack a tiny smile.

With Will Smith not returning to reprise his role in Independence Day 2, the upcoming sequel has been in need of a new charismatic hero to carry the torch. It looks like that hero has been found, as 20th Century Fox has cast rising star Jessie Usher as the son of Smith’s character. In addition, Liam Hemsworth is reportedly in talks to play Bill Pullman’s son-in-law.

The original ‘Hot Tub Time Machine’ feels more like something a group of stoners came up with and giggled about for a few hours than an actual movie. And yet, it exists. Every time a cast member from the film is interviewed, the subject of a sequel has to come up, and it seems like maybe Idina Menzel—the voice of Elsa—may have just sort of confirmed a sequel on behalf of Disney. Oops?

‘Dumb and Dumber To’ arrives two decades after the first film was one of the bigger hits of 1994 and no one knew what to make of it ... until it topped the box office this weekend and made it look easy. Now, the idea of two middle-aged actors returning to two of the most idiotic characters in modern movie history doesn't seem so desperate and crazy. It seems canny.

'Beverly Hills Cop 4' seemed like one of those things that was fun to think about -- like 'Dredd 2' -- but would probably never happen. While rumors of it moving forward have been circulating the web for some time, Paramount has revealed that, yes, this will officially happen and has been given a release date for 2016.

If Hollywood can count on anything, it's nostalgia, which is why it shouldn't be a surprise that there's a 'Goonies' sequel on the way -- yes, even 28 years later. Director Richard Donner is planning to reunite the original cast for a sequel to the cult classic film because Goonies never say die and all that.

Though perhaps not thought of as a mega-blockbuster, 'Despicable Me 2' grossed $368 million domestically and $935 million worldwide, and is currently the 25th highest grossing film in America and 24th worldwide. So, no surprise, Universal has dated 'Despicable Me 3' for 2017.
