windy weather

Living in Amarillo comes with a lot of perks! We have incredibly nice people, great restaurants, low living expenses... but our one downfall, without a shadow of a doubt, is the wind.

That's  Amarillo dust rolling across Lubbock yesterday.  I started choking about 30 seconds into the video.  We're used to wind gusts to 70 mph, but when you add an 8000 foot high red-dirt dust cloud, that invisible windstorm turns into an oxygen-eating red dirt monster devouring everything in its path...

Nothing is more fun than hanging out watching the kids jump around in an inflatable bouncy castle. Being from the 'Wind Capitol' of Texas, I have often wondered how this hasn't happened here. See what an uninvited dust devil can do to spoil a party...

Don't know when the wind will stop today, but, when you add a piano and slow motion to a video, it's actually kind of.....beautiful? We'd love to see what the wind does to your hair. Grab your cell phone and let's dance!
