Pop-country superstar Taylor Swift must be having a pretty happy new year so far. Due to holiday sales, her current album 'Red' has returned to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard charts for a seventh non-consecutive week, making it the best-selling country album of 2012.

According to Billboard, 'Red' sold 241,000 units in the final week of 2012 -- 54% of which were download-only sales. Digital sales received a massive boost from a special holiday promotion during which Amazon MP3 discounted the title to $1.99 as part of a Gold Box promotion on Dec. 24. It is also likely that Swift's sales spiked in part due to fans spending gift cards they received for Christmas.

Country Weekly reports that 'Red' is the third Taylor Swift album to spend at least six weeks in the No. 1 position in Billboard, making her the first artist to accomplish that since the Beatles placed seven straight albums at No. 1 for six weeks or more in the '60s.

Swift has now logged a career total of 24 weeks at No. 1, tying her with Adele as the female artist with the most weeks at No. 1 since the advent of SoundScan in 1991. And Billboard projects that 'Red' will spend at least one more week at the top, since there were no major new releases in the first week of 2013.
