After what seemed forever, Amarillo is finally seeing some nice weather again. Though it may be a short while before we can truly be safe from cold weather, spring has technically arrived and soon will summer. Therefore here's a list of ten fun activities to do this spring and upcoming summer of 2014 for everyone.

1. Zoo's Easter EGG-Citment

Starting on April 19th, the day before Easter, from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm the local Amarillo Zoo will host this annual event once more. While it's mostly a kid thing, adults can still have fun by looking at the various type of animals while the children visit the treat stations for candy filled eggs. Admission is $5 per person. It will be mostly Alice In Wonderland themed, with other characters mixed in like Bugs Bunny and actual real bunnies that can be petted. Definitely the event to visit if craving Easter fun.

2. Amarillo Botanical Gardens

While the trees and flowers are starting to blossom around here again, the Botanical Gardens are adorned with four acres of seasonal landscapes year round. There are beautiful plants around every corner ranging to familiar to exotic and rare. Every visit is different because they host special events and exhibits, like the May 11th Iris Show and the Garden Fest 2014 on May 10. In the Summer from April to October the Botanical Gardens are opened Tuesdays through Saturdays from 9 am to 5 pm. Admission is free for kids, 5 for adults, and 4 for seniors 60 and up.

3.Wonderland Park

What's more fitting for summer fun than an amusement park? Wonderland is the example of fun for everyone. Little kids can have fun on rides such as the Boats, Merry-Go-Round and the Frog Hopper. Older people who like thrill and excitement can find it in rides such as the Texas Tornado roller coaster, the amazing Fantastic Journey and the spinning Texas Intimidator. There are many post around so that nobody gets hungry or thirsty and, if wanting a cool down, the Shoot The Chute and Big Splash Log Flume will surely get you as the names imply. Ride passes vary in price depending on the day and age of the person, but tickets are each $1.50.

4. Cadillac Ranch

Located far from the cities along interstate 40 sits this artwork compromised of old Cadillac cars in multiple colors in the middle of in a wheat field. This pretty sight is a must see for every Amarillo native and/or art appreciator. It has made it into popular culture, being referenced in movies and TV shows. It's a great piece of history, showing the evolution of the car line from 1949 to 1963.

5. Tascosa Drive-In Theater

See a hot new releases the old fashioned way. The theater is a throwback to the 50's and 60's with still having a modern twist, as the screen is digital so the movies shown have the same quality as a normal theater. There are concession stands selling the typical treats like popcorn for movie goes to enjoy. There are bathrooms and for the children there's a playground they can use while they wait to see the picture.

6. Aggression Paintball

like the name suggests, this place is for those who seek excitement and thrilling fun. Here, people team up or go solo to try and eliminate opponents by striking them with harmless paint balls or capsules. Every visit is different as they have multiple courses ranging from open to closedoored in different sized layouts. All the equipment needed to play is available already and the staff is quick to offer assistance. Aggression Paintball is open Friday to Sunday with different hours for each day.

7. Splash Amarillo

Summer can be really fun but it can get way too hot for many with temperatures getting pretty high. If that happens head down to this awesome water park. Just outside Amarillo, this park is made for everyone from little kids to seniors. The place is very large so it takes all day to enjoy it all, from the fast speed slides to the gigantic wave pool. There's places to rest from the sun and many concession stands to get rid of the munchies. It's open all week, Monday through Saturday from 12 pm to 7 pm and Sunday closing at 6 pm. Definitely the place to dive into.

8. Amarillo's Little Theater

Don't be misled by the name; The ATL is filled with big talent and performances. Every production put out, whether a play or a musical, is crafted with excellence and professionalism. The actors are talented and the sets and stage well put together. It's easy to admire the time and care they put into each different season, with entertaining shows such as Peter Pan and Red. Tickets are currently available for the 2013-2014 season.

9. Don Harrington Discovery Center

It's hard to not enjoy going to the Discovery Center where science becomes something amazing and exciting. Always changing, new exhibits are always available, although only for a limited time, throughout the building. These exhibits include the LEGO® Castle Adventure, which will be open until May the 6th, and Giant Worlds, were kids can explore the gas planets. Also the Space Theater will be presenting Tornado Alley, which documents tornadoes and their overwhelming power and mystery. The Discovery Center is open Tuesdays to Wednesdays from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, Mondays being open only in the summer and school holidays.

10. Skate Plex Roller Skating Rink

Even if horrible at skating, this place is great fun. This indoor rink is open year round and is a great place to take a group of friends to just mess around and have a blast. All the equipment is already available to rent out. There's a concession stand with large booths to sit at to rest and eat up. Don't worry about whether if you can gracefully glide across a room in second or can barely stand without falling; the place is public for everyone to enjoy either way.
