Texas's weekend sale tax holiday is here. The annual event has been happening since 1999, officials estimate shoppers will save more than $74 million sales taxes this weekend.

Texas Comptrollers have said the law exempts most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks priced under $100. You could also save about $8 on every $100 spent, with some exceptions.

The state's tax holiday begins today, with tax breaks on the certain items through Sunday as many families prepare to send their children back to school.  Amarillo schools head back to class on Monday August 26th.
