In a few weeks we'll be setting the Thanksgiving table and feasting on a bounty of family favorites.  But, hold the can opener, there's still mixed feelings about the side dish we all love to hate-cranberries.

As a kid, I actually looked forward to slicing off a ring from the cranberry 'log' my mother would suction out of the can with 2 spatulas. I loved the way it wiggled on the dish as we passed it down the table.  It was the only time of year I could get away with playing with my food-until, inevitably, the delicious disk of jellied goodness slid off my plate on to my father's shoes. And there were a few Thanksgivings  the tart red log would be left on a plated lettuce bed in the back of the fridge, only to be discovered New Year's Day when somebody accidentally tipped the plate and everything would be covered in sweet, watery cranberry syrup.

How about you?  Do you have a 'crush' on the cranberry?  And what's the best way to fix it?  Canned? Jellied?  With pecans? Cooked from scratch? And if you pass on the cranberries,  what's your favorite Thanksgiving side dish?
