The VA Hospital in Amarillo is going green. If you have driven by the location anytime lately you have seen the construction going on. This is an effort of the US Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) to become more energy efficient in their renewable energy efforts.

When I passed by and seen the beginning stages of the structures going up I thought they were installing shade for parking, that was before I really knew what was going on. But I wasn't wrong about that, not only are they putting up solar panels but they will also provide shade for visitors to the hospital.

VA Secretary Eric K. Shinseke told GreenBang.com “The benefits of using solar power are profound, from reducing greenhouse gas emissions to improving the quality of the air we breathe,” Shinseke added by saying “This initiative is good for veterans and good for our environment.”
