A few days ago, spoiler-y set photos from 'The Walking Dead' season 4 emerged that appeared to herald the arrival of a major comic book twist to the AMC drama, showing one character to have apparently sustained a major injury. Now, new photos have arrived that appear to clarify the earlier leak, and may prove handy in ascertaining the truth about 'The Walking Dead' season 4!

You've been warned by now of MAJOR SPOILERS for 'The Walking Dead' season 4 and 'The Walking Dead' comics at large, but it seems reports of Rick Grimes potentially losing a hand in the coming season have been greatly exaggerated, at least for now. Where earlier distant set photos showed the character sporting a major bandage on his right hand, closer shots of actor Andrew Lincoln from the same shoot reveal at least some of the fingers to remain present and un-bandaged.

Fans of the Image Comics series well know that Rick lost his right hand in a cruel display from his first meeting with the Governor, but series creator Robert Kirkman has repeatedly expressed his regret over the narrative decision. Not only that, but such an injury would prove difficult to portray across the potential length of the series.

Of course, even with the extent of the injury somewhat clarified, it remains to be seen what in AMC's adaptation would cause some a gruesome wound, and whether it relates to anything culled from the comic sources. For all we know, the 8+ months spent on the run could have caused Rick to forget the dangers inherent to an active coffee pot.

While we wait for season 4, the next run of ‘The Walking Dead’ will introduce ‘The Wire’ star Lawrence Gilliard Jr. as haunted Army medic Bob Stookey, while actors Chad Coleman, Sonequa Martin-Green and Emily Kinney have all been upgraded to series regulars. AMC earlier confirmed that David Morrissey’s villainous Governor would also return in season 4 as a series regular.

Well, what say you? Will Rick Grimes survive 'The Walking Dead' season 4 intact? What new information will we learn from Comic-Con 2013? Watch the latest production video below, and give us your predictions in the comments!
