It is not uncommon for an artist to do a cover of another artist in another genre.  Thomas Rhett did just that and it is absolutely amazing!

Last month, Rhett decided to do some self promoting for the American Country Countdown Awards.  He took to Twitter and told his fans that if he had 3,000 re-tweets he would go into the studio and record his own version of Bruno Mars' 'When I Was Your Man.'  His fans surpassed the 3,000 re-tweets, and Rhett is a man of his word.

"I'm obsessed with Bruno Mars' records.  I'd give my right leg to be able to sing like that dude."

He said that he would often rehearse while on the road.  He then booked the studio, went in and recorded it in one take.
