Tyler Perry Didn’t Like ‘Prometheus’ So He’s Writing His Own Sci-Fi Movie

Tyler Perry Prometheus
Lionsgate/20th Century Fox

Reaction to ‘Prometheus‘ was mixed – some people loved it and some people hated it. Well, you can count Tyler Perry as one of the ones who hated it and he’s going to do something about it: he’s going to make his own sci-fi movie. (Yes, we’re still talking about the guy who dresses as the sassy fat old grandma in those movies.)

You may not know this but Tyler Perry is a big fan of sci-fi. He was even in the JJ Abrams ‘Star Trek’ reboot for a brief moment towards the end. And it’s his passion for sci-fi that brought him to the theater (or probably the giant theater in his giant mansion) to watch ‘Prometheus.’ He was not amused.

Perry told BlackFilm.com:

I love the Alien movies and the Alien franchise. I was very disappointed with Prometheus, but I love that whole franchise. Those are my favorite movies.

Perry goes on to say that because he loves sci-fi so much and has been so disappointed with recent sci-fi movies, he’s writing a sci-fi movie right now that he’s “really excited about.” Sadly, no additional details were given but if you see a movie studio snatching up the rights to madeagoestospace.com, you know what’s going on.

This is just one part of Tyler Perry trying to break out of the mold of his jokey (yet insanely successful) Madea movies (coincidentally Perry is saying all this while out promoting ‘Madea’s Witness Protection Program’ so…). He can be seen starring (and not writing or directing) in the upcoming thriller ‘Alex Cross.’

So…what do you think? OK, stupid question, we already know what you think.
