WT students have more than just a new football stadium to look forward to.

West Texas A&M has been growing their agriculture program steadily for several years. Enrollment has increased thanks to great recruitment efforts, generous scholarship donors, and national recognition for the various programs in the department. In fact, earlier this year, researchers at WT were recognized for their advanced beef cloning project.

In April, WT announced its plans to build an ag complex that would feature a livestock event arena, meat lab, research lab, and greenhouse. The blueprint includes plenty of parking for trailers and holding pens for animals.

The Ag Complex will be located on the corner of Russell Long Boulevard and WTAMU Drive. The location is currently an empty field where WT used to hold the annual homecoming bonfire.

The Department of Agricultural Sciences is hosting the groundbreaking on Friday, October 14th, at 10:30 a.m. They are asking guests to park at the Virgil Henson Activities Center across the street.

This is an exciting time for students and faculty in the Department of Agricultural Sciences, so please feel free to celebrate with them, especially if you are an alumnus!
