What the…? World War II Veteran Badly Beaten and Robbed by Teenage Thugs [POLL]
The current state of American honor and respect is in question today, as two teenage boys and a man have been arrested in Chicago for allegedly ambushing an elderly World War II veteran, severely beating him and then robbing him of his money.
Police say the arrest is due mostly in part to a couple of delivery men who witnessed the attack, and then clandestinely followed the culprits in order to be able to lead authorities to where their whereabouts.
Fortunately, the three suspects, ages 15, 17 and 20 were successfully apprehended somewhere near where they delivered an unwarranted beating to 87-year-old Porter Cross — busting his dentures apart and ripping out his hearing aid.
“I’m outraged. I’m saddened. My heart hurts,” Cross’ daughter, Cynthia Steward-Jones, said Tuesday. “He served his country and worked for the post office for 36 years. Who could do something like this to an old person? Or anybody?”
Authorities report that all three of the attackers were charged with felony robbery of a senior citizen, and one was even charged with reckless conduct after he ran into traffic in order to avoid being arrested – bond was set at $500,000.
Porter Cross was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center where he received treatment for multiple bruises and facial lacerations.
