I have a four year old son and a bunch of nieces and nephews.  Over the years I have realized that kids are super expensive.  I just don't understand why kid items are so expensive.

Kids are innocent and pretty much helpless.  They depend 100% on their parents to buy them all the things they need and to take care and protect them.

But have you noticed that kid items are super expensive?  Diapers, formula, clothing it all adds up and adds up fast.  My biggest pet peeve is that children's clothes and shoes are just as expensive as adult items.

If you buy a baby a shirt, hardly any material is used to make it but it cost at least 10 to 20 dollars.  When my son was a baby my husband bought him a pair of shoes and I was shocked to find out that he paid over $50 for them.

Depending on your source, the average price to raise a child from birth to age 18 is over $200,000. That is insane.  I think that manufacturers and other companies directed towards children take advantage of new parents.

Items are overpriced and parents buy it because their kids need it.  It is a never ending cycle.

What is the most expensive thing you bought for your baby?
